Gaikwad Leads Asian Squad

The recently announced Indian squad for the Asian Games 2023 has been a topic of discussion among cricket enthusiasts. With the Asian Games coinciding with the ODI World Cup, the BCCI has assembled a second-string Indian team for the continental event in Hangzhou. Led by Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team features talented players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, and Arshdeep Singh, among others. However, former India opener Aakash Chopra expressed surprise over the inclusion of Arshdeep in the squad.

Arshdeep's ODI Snub Questioned

Arshdeep Singh, the star pacer from Punjab Kings, has already represented Team India in 26 T20Is and 3 ODIs, where he has been known for his exceptional death bowling skills. Chopra finds it shocking that the team has not considered Arshdeep for the ODI World Cup.

Chopra Questions Arshdeep Snub

In a recent episode on his YouTube channel, former India opener Aakash Chopra expressed his surprise at Arshdeep Singh’s absence from the ODI team. Chopra questioned the selectors’ decision, especially considering that Arshdeep has not been included in the upcoming ODIs against West Indies. He emphasized that the young pacer has great potential and can be an asset in both white-ball formats.

Chopra Questions Arshdeep Omission

In a recent episode on his YouTube channel, former India opener Aakash Chopra expressed his surprise at Arshdeep Singh’s absence from the ODI team. Chopra questioned the selectors’ decision, especially considering that Arshdeep has not been included in the upcoming ODIs against West Indies. He emphasized that the young pacer has great potential and can be an asset in both white-ball formats.

Arshdeep's Exclusion Questioned

Chopra further pointed out that Arshdeep’s exclusion from the Asian Games squad also raised eyebrows. He believes that the fast bowler has a lot to offer in all three formats of the game, and it’s puzzling why the selectors have not considered him for such important tournaments.

Asian Games Squad Debated

Meanwhile, the Asian Games squad, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, includes several IPL stars such as Jitesh Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh, Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Ravi Bishnoi. The team looks promising, but Arshdeep’s omission has left many cricket fans wondering about the reasons behind it.

Stand-bys for Asian Games

In addition to the main squad, Sai Kishore, Yash Thakur, Deepak Hooda, and Sai Sudharshan have been named as stand-by players for the Asian Games. It remains to be seen how the team performs in the upcoming tournament, and whether Arshdeep Singh’s absence will have any impact on their campaign.
